A Galaxy Next Door is a 12-episode series. Let's start with some background. An island believed to be connected to the stars is isolated from the rest of the world. However, the princess of the island (who is a little more than human) decides it is time for her to have some new experiences after her grandmother passes away. She quickly learns how to draw manga by tracing the art from her favorite manga writer's published works. Coincidentally, that same artist finds her one day and hires her to help him finish his manga since she already knows his style of artwork. The duo has to work over night and afterwards, the princess falls asleep on the table she was working on. The kind artist wanted to make sure she didn't get hurt from what he thought was a pen that she was laying on. This incident causes the duo to become engaged by the ritual done on the island the princess hails from. They work tirelessly in hopes to break off the engagement only to start dating.
I may have gotten carried away describing the series. The important notes to take away from the series is that a princess becomes engaged to a manga writer who becomes her boss. They try to break off the engagement and start dating because they fall in love with each other. This series shows a well thought out scenario and acknowledges the ignorance of the audience by providing answers to any question you may think of. I have seen several completed anime that leave you with more questions than answers and this is not one of those. I appreciate that consideration the artist has for the viewer.
Though the story was well written, I am not a personal fan of this anime. I feel like the potential to continue on and add to the story is there but until there is more to the story, I do not think I will watch it again. This is Skyler signing off for now, UNTIL NEXT TIME!!
