All of my previous posts were all anime series, this anime on the other hand is actually a movie. Humanity is given a clean slate as a wind washes across the Earth wiping away all of the people's memories away. One man was rehabilitated and takes it upon himself to travel across America do the same to the people he comes across. On his travels he comes across a woman who decides to travel with him. Each group of people the pair come across are at different stages of development, some are at the level of the stone age while others are a little more equipped (with weapons). Each group also displays different social customs that were developed since the amnesia. There was even a situation where the rich and brilliant were supposed to be able to go to in case of disaster, though I won't say too much about it, so I don't give anything away. By the end, they man who started this self-appointed mission attempts to find out where the wind came from and why.
This anime is clearly older, you can tell (without looking at the release date) by the style of art, dialogue and sound effects. I am not usually a fan of older anime; they just capture my attention like the more modern ones. That being said, this anime was not able to keep my focus. I think the storyline was interesting, however the art style made it difficult for me to stay focused on the movie. I do have to say that I was surprised by some of the situations that happened and especially the reasoning behind the wind. The fighting scenes were bland in comparison to the modern anime, though I believe the artists were talented and should be recognized for those scenes. I was confused in some parts of the movie, it felt like the story bounced from subject to subject a little too much. I felt as if there were a lot of missing information that just wasn't explained.
This movie is interesting in how it brings to light on how humanity can grow and change based on decisions made (assuming memories were erased and everyone was given a clean slate). Humans can make the same mistakes especial when you do not learn from the past. I did enjoy this movie near the end, but it was too slow in the beginning in my opinion. I am satisfied watching this movie once, though I do not think I will watch it again. Now that you know my opinion on this anime, do you agree or disagree? This is Skyler signing off for now, UNTIL NEXT TIME!!
